Thesis: Over the last 5 years, how has the influence of private equity affected the insurance industry?
Research Responsibilities
Analyze complex 10-k’s and white papers of financial institutions like Athene, StateFarm and MetLife to highlight and quantify the difference private equity involvement makes in the insurance industry. Select specific financial securities, like Asset Backed Securities (ABS) containing credit card loans and Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) containing risky office loans, that diverge under different management.
Principle Investigator
Dr. David T. Brown
Professor Brown teaches the fixed income securities courses at the undergraduate and graduate level programs. He serves as the Director of the MSF (Master of Science-Finance) Program. His current research focuses on real estate finance and the pricing of default risk in corporate bonds. He has been a visiting professor at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management and served as an investment officer for NISA Investment Advisors LLC.
